Henley Royal Regatta
Messing About in Boats - Henley Royal Regatta
Boaters ( straw hats ), striped blazers ( jackets ), white flannels ( trousers ) and Pimms ( dangerous! ). This must be the Henley Royal Regatta!. Don't be fooled by the sound of braying 'hooray-Henrys', the popping of corks, the clinking of glasses and the boisterous behaviour of the 'over-served', this is a serious athletic event.

London Marathon
"And time here will finish and time here will begin
May love preserve us in the race we're born to win"
"Until Our Race is Won" (J. Horden).
The clock counts down slowly; it seems to take an age and the burning tension in the stomach is almost unbearable. |

Royal Ascot
"And they're neck and neck with two furlongs to go….." calmly advises the tannoy in the Royal Ascot Grandstand.
The thud of the horses hooves are drowned out by the sound of 10,000 voices calling for greater effort. "Come on, come ON!"

The Boat Race
The University Boat Race - A contest of Titans. It can take several minutes to start the Boat Race.
The long, narrow craft seemingly impossibly occupied by 8 bulky athletes and a minute cox are held fast against the strong, tricky tide while the two craft swing alarmingly in the Thames eddies.
